Introducing: Jerome Sydenham

The third hero that we want to give some extra attention is Jerome Sydenham. Child of an English father and Jamaican mother, Jerome was born and raised in Nigeria. After having his teenage years spent in England, he migrated to the Big Apple. An immense career started from there. He had big commercial succeses in the late eighties when he joined the A&R division of Atlantic Records and worked with top acts as En Vogue and Das Efx.

Jerome SydenhamIn ’95 his international career in house music also took of with his own label ‘Ibadan Records’ (named after his Nigerian hometown). He became good friends and produced a lot of instant classics with the likes of Joe Claussell and Kerri Chandler. Later on he took the tech-house genre to another level together with Dennis Ferrer.

“Jerome Sydenham is a masterful producer that spans many genres and he is constantly inventing new sounds and styles of music”

Some call him Kerri ‘Kaoz’ Chandler. For sure one of the biggest names in house music worldwide. This fella’ from Jersey surpassed legend status a long time ago. Known for his advanced productions and his hand-built equipment, Kerri is most certainly going to rock the place.

SKUG’s 25

After recently presenting their new website, it’s time for another mix for Pakhuis NYE. This time provided by SKUG! As part of a yearly mix of the 50 best house and techno tracks from that year, presented by Protechnive Radio on Deep.FM, and hosted monthly at SKUG’s home base, the SOUNDKINGS studio, the crew selected their 25 best tracks of 2011. Mixed by residents Guevara and PD Marcos. Because the SKUG parties always are the best blend of pure house and techno music, you can expect an energetic mix. Including some fine promos from SKUG’s very promising live act Klankarbeit, and music from SKUG’s headliner for Pakhuis NYE, Einzelkind!

In the history of Pakhuis we’ve seen the name SKUG before. As the ambassadors of SKUG, Guevara and Arthur Meenks already played at the prequel of Pakhuis and hosted an area with DéTOUR last march. After doing a tour throughout the Netherlands last year, Pakhuis is another warm welcome in their hometown and a fresh start for 2012!

We welcome SESSIONS to the PKHS-Family

After Gohan’s promo set, now Nico Murse helps you through the cold December month with a another nice warm-up set for Pakhuis NYE! Newcommer at this Pakhuis edition is SESSIONS, a young and fresh organisation that stands for Quality House Music. After their big success at “Prachtig Rotterdam”, beneath the Erasmus bridge, it’s now time to rock one of the warehouses during Pakhuis NYE.

Nico, one of the driving forces behind the SESSIONS organization, made a 90 minute soundtrack, which gives preview of what you’ll be hearing at the SESSIONS area. Tracks include works from Gerd and Steve Mensink, from the brand new Triphouse Rotterdam EP (on sale soon!), give you a glimpse into Nico’s recordbag!

Rotterdam’s Very Own

On new years eve the Triphouse Rotterdam collective will again host a room at Pakhuis. Triphouse Rotterdam stands for creative and forward thinking electronic music. From their headquarters, located in a side street of the Rotterdam’s West-Kruiskade, they spread their love for underground music. Through events, radioshows and of course their own recordstore and label they bring music lovers together. Their goal is to enrich Rotterdam’s nightlife, the Netherlands, planet earth and the rest of the universe with high quality electronic music.

“To infinity and beyond” – Buzz Lightyear

To get you into the right mood for the coming NYE party we present you a dj mix by Triphouse Rotterdam’s own illustrious duo Khalil and Steven Pieters. They have been one of the driving forces in the cities underground club scene for the turn of the century and especially the last couple of years their agenda has exploded, performing regularly at clubs and festivals throughout the Netherlands and countries such as Sweden, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Israel and Spain. During the AutumnDrift Festival in Nijmegen, Triphouse Rotterdam originators Khalil and Steven Pieters layed down a juicy selection of undergound tracks that are now available to everyone as a stream and/or download through Soundcloud. See you on the other side!

Steve Rachmad at Pakhuis NYE

2011 was a good year for Steve Rachmad. The man who brought the Detroit sound to the Netherlands performed all over the globe including gigs at Tresor (Berlin) and Fabric (London). If you celebrate your birthday with Villalobos in Studio 80 and play at Time Warp one week later, we, as an organization, are honored that Steve will conclude a successful year at Pakhuis NYE!

Last May, the Grooveline crew followed Rachmad at a gig in Barcelona. You can find the result below:
