Jay Samuel

Years ago Jay Samuel got acquainted with the funky techno sound played out in the basement of Nighttown Rotterdam, where ultimately he was introduced to DJ Michel de Hey. With a group of friends Jay accompanied Michel de Hey on his weekend bookings and in time Jay got inspired to become a DJ. Eventually he started organising small parties in order to play as often as possible. One thing led to another and he was invited to play as a warm-up DJ at Michel de Hey’s Friday night at Nighttown Rotterdam. A few years ago Jay became a resident DJ for the Future and additionally he took a monthly residency at club night ‘On’ at Off Corso Rotterdam. Nowadays Jay is doing gigs at club nights such as Chemistry, 013, Patronaat, Club Risk at Winkel van Sinkel, Mazzo and Club Vibes. Furthermore he is to be found playing at parties and events such as Concept, Silly Symphonies, Earth, Future of Sounds, EC Label Night and at the big festivals such as Dance Valley, Impulz Outdoor and 4 Elements. Further Jay is playing at cultural events such as the Heineken Fast Forward Dance Parade in Rotterdam, City Parade Luik (Belgium) and Love Parade Berlin (Germany). Three years ago Jay made his debut appearance abroad in Spain and these days Jay is playing all over Europe.

Jay had his first producing experience in the recording studio of Stef Vrolijk in 2000. Stef is a progressive producer and at first, it was difficult to mingle the two very different styles together. As a result from this first co-operation, ‘Business Class’ came out on EC Records. In April 2002 Jay Samuel’s first mixed CD compilation project was released on the special occasion of the Smirnoff Residence Concept.
