Sandrien is probably one of the biggest rising stars of the Dutch dance scene. Her sparkling personality in combination with her qualities as a DJ, brought her to the top of female DJ’s in Holland over the last 2 years. This fine combination also brought her to all the big Dutch festivals, such as Dancevalley, Mysteryland, Innercity, Lowlands, FYM, Rockit and 5 Days Off, Awakenings (2007/2008) she shook the crowd back there, and not only there, every weekend Sandrien makes the crowd go wild, playing in clubs throughout Europe. Her sets are always surprising and full of energy, she is known for her fine tuning with the audience, which in return is known for loosing it when Sandrien plays her mixture of minimal techno and deeper freaky sounds.
This mixture of sounds goes beyond DJ-ing alone, Sandrien is busy as a producer as well. In 2008 Sandrien started her solo live set and had her first release on Pinksilver Digital. Making lots of music and refining her live set is one of her main focus of 2009. Besides her solo project she also forms the Amsterdam Assholes, together with Wouter Hisschemöller. Their collaboration creates freaked and deep minimal dancefloor rockers. Their first EP Boormachine came out on Dualblock in 2007 and got played by DJ’s like Josh Wink, Ambivalent (The Nerd Tank) and Martin Eyerer.
The producers duo Amsterdam Assholes is not the only collaboration Sandrien takes part in. Together with Carlos Valdes she forms the DJ duo Mal Borrowed & Frei Bauwerker. These two are known for their funky freaky banging minimal techno sets with acid and electro influences. Their deep sets full of energy and fun were not ignored by the Dutch audience, so they’ve won the award for best DJ duo in Holland 2007! Mal Borrowed & Frei Bauwerker had their own club night MAD2 in one of Amsterdam finest clubs, 11 (RIP) (and invited guests like Cassy, Bruno Pronsato, Jackmate, Tigerskin, Jennifer Cardini). Electronic WEIRDneSS and Deep TechY Sheisse makes the freaks come out!
Sandrien is showing not only the Dutch, but also the world what she’s capable off, playing with international DJ’s such as Ellen Alien, Michael Mayer, Pan Pot, Heartthrob, James Holden, Joel Mull. Sandrien has been shining, playing at parties in Germany: (Bar25, VCF, Uebel & Gefarlich) Japan (Tokyo, Osaka) Swiss, Croatia. Off course her memorable set during the Sonar festival in Barcelona Spain can not be missed in this shortlist.
Sandrien became an ambassador for Dance4Life in 2006. This organisation inspires, mobilises and unites young people to push back HIV and Aids worldwide.
In 2010 Sandrien got a new residency at Club Poema in Utrecht.
