Ruben Overdulve a.k.a Shawn Rubens, born and raised in Rotterdam, is a tech-house/techno dj/producer and organiser who in the mid 90’s started deejaying as a resident in Roadhouz (Rotterdam), playing his sets each friday and saturday while developing his skills and energetic style in mixing and sound. During the years that followed he crossed to techno and drum & bass.
Shawn has been performing at various venues and festivals, such as Catwalk, Studio 80, HMH, Nighttown/Watt, Waterfront, Bootleg DJ Café Rotterdam, Lowlands Festival and Dance Valley. With his high technical mixing skills and very energetic style, Shawn Rubens takes each floor to another level!
After Shawn’s first release in 2008, many have followed on several labels. Recently, Shawn has been added to the crew of Drops Records, and is now working closely together with Jorick Croes. Keep an ear out for all the new releases to come this year, both from Shawn Rubens and his collab with Croes, The Aelias! Style: progressive techno.
Through some smaller concepts in the past like LIFTdnb and Beatmac, Shawn also got hooked with organising. Today he hosts two concepts in Rotterdam’s finest tunnel, the Catwalk: DéTOUR (with Tony Netten) and Afterling. After one year of DéTOUR on thursday, Catwalk decided to move this concept to friday night. Strong techno and tech-house with the “doodgaan kan altijd nog” message make people raise their hands towards the ceiling and lose themselves. With the Afterling, Shawn and his crew have created a new brand in afterpartyland. With crazy decorations and a shitload of pillows, matrasses and blankets they offer their Afterlings a warm welcome in a shoeless fairytale world where u can live it all out!
